5 Things I Want Every Mama To Know Before Their Newborn Photo Session

Asheville Newborn Photographer captures a close-up of a baby's feet resting on a bed of fresh yellow tulips with green leaves, capturing a soft and tender moment in a bright, natural setting.

Whether you are a first time mama excitedly (and maybe nervously) scheduling newborn photos or maybe you’re adding a second, or third, or FOURTH and you’re worried about how newborn photos are going to go this time around with extra tiny humans running around. Whichever boat you are in, I want you to know that I completely understand the nerves that come with hiring a photographer!

If we haven’t met yet, my name is Rachel Miller and I am a family and motherhood photographer in Asheville, North Carolina. Not only do I create bright and joyful images that capture the unique love and connection that each family has, I also create calm and stress-free environments during my photo sessions that take the pressure off of everyone to be posed and perfect!

Below are the top 5 things that I want every mama to know before their RMP Newborn Session. So you can relax and actually look forward to your newborn photo session!

Asheville Newborn Photographer captures a joyful family sitting together in a cozy living room. A postpartum mother in a pink dress sits on the floor holding a newborn baby, smiling warmly. A father sits beside her on the couch, and a new big sister with red hair and a pink headband leans in close, all admiring the baby with love and tenderness.

Please don’t clean your house for me! You have enough to do already! We will concentrate on 1-3 areas of your home with bright, natural light. Don’t worry, we can toss any dirty laundry to the side. 😜

Asheville Newborn Photographer captures a tender close-up of a new mother gently kissing her newborn baby’s nose. The baby is wrapped snugly in a soft blue newborn wrap, resting peacefully against the mother's chest. The mother holds the baby lovingly with both hands, her eyes closed in a moment of deep affection.
A young family with three children is outdoors with a large tree behind them, sunlight shining through the leaves and branches. A mother in a blue dress stands to the left, holding a newborn baby with a young girl standing at her side. The father stands to the right, playfully tossing a toddler girl into the air.

I have worked with SO many toddlers over the years, and even have two of my very own. I’ve got a utility belt filled with PLENTY of strategies to help your toddler bypass tantrums and feel comfortable, valued and happy during your session!

Asheville Newborn Photographer captures three young children - two girls and one boy - are lying stomach down on a bed with white covers, gently kissing their newborn sibling. The newborn is wrapped in a white cloth newborn wrap expertly wrapped by the asheville newborn photographer.

But, most importantly…

Asheville Newborn Photographer captures a newborn child's hand is wrapped gently around the right index finger of their mother's.

You are doing the hard thing! Give yourself so much grace. You are taking care of both yourself and a very tiny, very needy human. You are tired and overwhelmed, but you continue to show up and do it! I am here to help you and cheer you on, no judgment included. ❤️
