“But First, Coffee”
We started off Ashleigh’s In-Home Newborn Session with COFFEE! (I picked up a few extras for the stylist and the photographer βΊοΈ)

Madison (@styles.by.mads) who is a super talented make-up and hair stylist, came to Ashleigh’s house two hours before her session to start her soft, natural glam look!

Ashleigh actually wasn’t sure initially if she wanted to add false lashes to her look after having an unpleasant experience with them in the past.
Madison was absolutely willing to respect her wishes, but wanted to show her how she applies them in a natural, unobtrusive way, and Ashleigh ended up LOVING how they looked and felt and decided to keep them on for her whole session!
Ashleigh was even able to feed her baby while getting her Hair and Make-Up so he would be full and sleepy and ready for photos when she was done!

About a week before her newborn session, Ashleigh selected a 3-4 dresses she wanted to try on from the RMP Client Closet Catalog. Rachel had them washed and steamed and brought them with her to the session!
The client closet dresses are all made from very forgiving, flattering and flexible materials so Ashleigh wasn’t concerned about waiting for photo day to make her final decision! (If you want to pick up dresses earlier to try on, that is totally fine too!)

Ashleigh chose this gorgeous blue floral print Louisa Nap Dress from Hill House!
To officially start our session, I photographed the whole family while the toddler was freshly ready and feeling happy and excited for both photos and baby brother snuggles!

Having young children of my own, and having six years of experience as a School Counselor, I am very aware of what toddlers behaviors and emotions are like! I will do everything I can to make your toddler feel comfortable, have some control over what they want to do, and to make your session as fun as possible for everybody!

I’ll even dress up as Ms. Rachel if you think it will help your toddler have a positive experience! Just ask, and I’ll strap on the overalls!
Once I knew we had captured everything mom wanted with the family and with the siblings, we let the toddler change clothes and get a reward while we focused on other combinations like mom and baby, dad and baby, parents and baby, and baby only!

So, what was it that made this dreamy newborn session SUCH a stunner?
β¬οΈ Let me tell you! β¬οΈ

π Let’s start with the obvious, this family is GORGEOUS!!!

ππ»ββοΈπ Hair & Make-Up by Madison (@styles.by.mads) also really helped elevate mama’s look and I think it also made her feel more confident and beautiful throughout the whole session! Having this done for her also helped her feel less stressed to start out with because she wasn’t trying to get ready with a toddler running around and a baby crying!

π Ashleigh LOVED this Hill House dress and so do I! The shape was so flattering, the colors looked really lovely on her and the lighter tones also reflected light so beautifully. Other dresses from the Client Closet include shops like Worth Collective, Nothing Fits But, Baltic Born, and Pink Blush Maternity.

βοΈ It was a sunny day, mid-morning and the bright but indirect sunlight coming from their bedroom window is what photographer’s dreams are made of!!! Almost all of my newborn sessions are on weekday late-mornings when babies and toddlers are their happiest and the sunlight is typically bright indoors!

ποΈ If you know you’d like to use your bedroom for family photos, consider using a white bed spread because it acts as a natural reflector to help keep your photos looking like the light and bright style that you probably chose me for!

πΆπ» We were also working with a REAL cute baby and the white newborn wrap we chose along with his little feet hanging out was so adorable! The neutral color kept their photos looking clean and bright and just completed the look so perfectly!

πΈ And last but not least, choosing a photographer who is going to care for your needs, get along well with your toddler, and understand how to use lighting and camera settings to make everyone look their best is going to give you results that you didn’t think were possible for your family!

Are you interested in add additional photo sessions like Maternity Photography or Birth Photography too?
This season of Motherhood is SO beautiful and also SO fleeting and I would love nothing more than to preserve it for you forever.
That’s why I created the RMP Motherhood Collection! These packages are designed to pamper mama so all of you have to worry about is caring for your very cute, but very dependent little human!
